Anthem is committed to keeping affordable, high‑quality coverage available across Colorado. On August 19, 2025, we filed a required notice with the Division of Insurance (DOI) to meet state deadlines. This filing could affect some Individual Marketplace plans in certain counties if financially sustainable 2026 rates aren’t approved. This affects only some of Anthem’s Individual and Family plans. It doesn’t affect any employer-sponsored plans.
What’s happening:
- The DOI hasn’t finished decisions on 2026 ACA rates, which are based on the care members are expected to use next year and the costs of that care.
- To follow state rules, Anthem filed a notice about possible changes, including the possibility of discontinuing individual health plans in certain counties.
Why we filed now:
- Insurers must give 135 days’ notice before discontinuing plans.
- For plans starting January 1, 2026, the notice date was August 19, 2025.
- The DOI may not approve rates until September 30, 2025, which is about six weeks after the notice deadline.
- Because of this timing gap, we filed the notice to comply with the rules.
Which plans are affected:
- Only some Individual Marketplace plans in some counties could be affected.
- This does not impact employer or group Anthem plans.
What happens next:
- If financially sustainable rates are approved, we will withdraw the notice and continue offering Individual Marketplace plans across all counties as we usually do.
- If the rates are not approved, we will discontinue certain Individual Marketplace plans and ensure we communicate these changes to impacted members and brokers in a timely manner.
Anthem doesn’t want to exit any county. As the state completes its review, we will work to maintain coverage in as many areas as possible. No matter what, we will remain in any county that would otherwise be left without coverage options.
