Ohio Farm Bureau ending the Health Benefits Plan

Large Group, Small Group, Individual | OH

The Ohio Farm Bureau has made the decision to close the Health Benefits Plan (HBP) effective December 31, 2026. Coverage will not be interrupted prior to that date, and all plans will remain fully in force through the end of the 2026 plan year.

With this change, the Ohio Farm Bureau will partner with the Southern Ohio Chamber Alliance (SOCA) to offer the SOCA Benefit Plan to Farm Bureau members in 2027 – bringing the stability of Ohio’s largest multiple employer welfare arrangement (MEWA) to these groups.

What’s next

Effective January 2027, Ohio Farm Bureau will be an eligible affiliate that employer groups and sole proprietors may select when enrolling in the SOCA Benefit Plan.

If your agency currently has business enrolled in the Ohio Farm Bureau HBP, your account manager will work with you to review available options.  In most instances, Anthem will facilitate the generation of a SOCA Benefit Plan quote.   Beginning in mid-September, each agency will receive a listing of all groups along with the corresponding quote number(s) when quotes become available in the Producer Toolbox quoting tool.

Your account manager will share additional information and updates as they become available.  Additionally, more details will be provided during the upcoming Broker Roadshows.
